About Me

I am currently pursuing a Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree at Tennessee State University. I graduated with my undergraduate degree in 2007 from Western Kentucky University, where I developed a deep passion for education and student success.

For the past several years, I've had the privilege of working in various educational settings, including two impactful years at Jere Baxter Middle School, where I taught Math and Science. My experience in the classroom reinforced my belief that every student, no matter their background or circumstances, deserves the opportunity to thrive and achieve their full potential. I’ve seen firsthand the powerful difference that a supportive, inclusive learning environment can make in the lives of young people.

In 2024, I decided to step away from the classroom to take on a new challenge with Communities In Schools (CIS), a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down the barriers that prevent students from succeeding in school. In my role with CIS, I am able to expand my impact by working directly with students and families to provide support and resources that help them overcome obstacles. Whether it’s through mentoring, advocacy, or connecting families with community services, my goal is to ensure that every student has the chance to succeed academically and personally.

On a personal note, I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Don, for 10 years. Together, we are proud parents of four children: two adults (26 and 21 years old), one teenager (19 years old), and a sweet 3-year-old who keeps our household filled with joy and energy. My family is my foundation and my source of inspiration, and balancing family life with my professional aspirations is a journey I cherish every day.

As I continue my studies and work with CIS, I am committed to fostering positive change in education and beyond. This portfolio reflects my growth as both an educator and a lifelong learner, and I hope it offers a glimpse into my dedication to supporting students and helping them navigate the challenges they face.
